![]() ![]() That’s something you have to prepare to be okay with. Leading to further illegal prostitution and sex trafficking in our city. Keep in mind if that’s something you support, that particular criminal element may increase with no enforcement and investigation. If you’d like this unit to be reassigned back to patrol or to different divisions, that’s your opinion to have. Engaging in operations to suppress illegal prostitution is a tool used to investigate sex trafficking since those worlds are intertwined. Ranging from homicide, burglary, traffic/DUI, robbery, vehicle theft, harbor patrol, drugs, child porn, interagency task forces, gangs, SWAT, etc. SPD is large enough that they have multiple divisions to specialize in different areas of investigation and criminal enforcement. You are aware that the police’s responsibilities go beyond the mere response to in-progress 911 calls right? A significant portion is also dedicated to investigating the crimes that spring from those calls and engaging in long term investigation and suppression of crime. Your mere observance of an marked edited because the OP got irrationally pissed when i said “unmarked” unit in a known prostitution area has given you the authority to know exactly what they’re doing apparently. You are now in the entryway to the sex trafficking world. I’m assuming you’re researched and were read in on these specific police operations in your self admitted illegal procurement of sex workers. So Chief Diaz, how is that you have enough officers to clamp down on prostitution but not enough to respond to calls about violent crime? ![]() This is way out of the ordinary, I know Aurora and know the typical things cops do.Įven if you believe prostitution is bad and should be illegal, don't you want them responding to violent crimes rather than enforcing prostitution laws?Ī woman was recently shot in Greenlake and Chief Diaz was speaking about a shortage of officers and not being able to patrol effectively. This isn't a thing that happens here and there, they are doing is multiple nights/week. One night there was a cop sitting at the vaccine site across from the Les Schwab, 3 cops sitting at Les Schwab, a cop sitting just north of the Firestone, another one sitting in the middle lane between 125th and 127th, one sitting on 137th & Aurora facing west and another one sitting on the west side of Aurora a little north of 137th. So apparently they have enough resources to have 8 cops sitting at various places on Aurora to clamp down on prostitution but don't have enough cops to respond to violent crimes. The point of this comment isn't to argue whether everyone believes prostitution should be legal or not but that the police are doing this while also saying they don't have enough resources to respond to reports of violent crime. Multiple cops will sit in hot spots and just sit there making it so girls don't get picked up and if they do the cops will swoop in. In the past few weeks the cops have been really cracking down on Aurora. Use the following links to sort content by your preferred method.
